Cost & terms
How mustr runs on Cloudflare’s free tier, what could ever cost money, and how it uses Cloudflare’s products, with a live estimator.
A mustr instance fits comfortably inside Cloudflare's free allowances, so hosting costs roughly nothing. The only thing you're guaranteed to pay for is a domain name (from a registrar, not Cloudflare). The one number that slowly creeps up is stored images, with a free ceiling of 10 GB.
Estimate your situation
The free-tier ceilings
| Service | What mustr uses it for | Free allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Workers | Every page & API request; scheduled sync jobs | 100,000 requests/day; static assets free & unlimited |
| D1 (database) | Roster, events, news, training, settings | 5 GB; 5,000,000 row-reads/day; 100,000 row-writes/day |
| R2 (media) | Uploaded images | 10 GB storage; egress always free |

What could actually make you pay
- Stored images pass 10 GB from years of accumulated uploads. Overage is $0.015/GB-month (an 11th gigabyte ≈ 1.5¢/month). Bandwidth to view them stays free.
- You choose the Workers Paid plan, a flat $5/month, entirely optional. It raises every limit enormously.
- Extreme traffic: sustained >100,000 requests/day would exhaust the free Workers request budget. Not reachable by a normal community.
The one unavoidable cost is the domain name (typically ~$10/year for a .com; premium extensions like .gg cost more).
How mustr uses Cloudflare
- Images live in R2, Cloudflare's object-storage product, built for exactly this.
- The app runs on Workers, the intended way to run an application on Cloudflare.
- No self-hosted video: every video embeds from YouTube, storing none, keeping mustr clear of Cloudflare's CDN content rules (which apply to large files served through the cache).
- The free tiers are documented, official offerings — using them, including for a business, is ordinary and expected.
One thing worth knowing: payments
Cloudflare asks that you don't collect credit-card details directly on a site using its Free plan. mustr collects no payment data, so a normal install is fine. If you add paid memberships later, use a hosted checkout (Stripe, PayPal) where cards are entered on the processor's own page.
